I could put type a text in the button.I put type a text “SIGN OUT” . I created 2 button are “YES” and “NO” If you wanted to sign out from the program, you could click “YES” button. So, if you didn’t want to sign out from the program, they could click “NO button to confirm again after click sign out button. After that, teacher taught how to create exercise, pre-test and post-test in my project. Frist You must to go to slides tool and click a question slide to create my exercise, pre-test and post-test. Moreover, I learned the creating matching exercise.
Today I had a lot of knowledge about using the Adobe Captivate 8 Program to make a Computer Assisted Language Learning (CALL).

Learning Log 11 (20/09/2016)

Saturday, October 1, 2016

This day. I learnt about how to construct the test in Adobe Captivate 8.In program a lot of type of test such as  short answer, fill in the blank, multiple choice, true or false and matching. First, short answer test, From the program. We are able to design the test a student can do easily and we can design the answer were one and when the students doing the test done. Students can also be present to answer it and also collect points to measure the ability, and the last is the evaluation we can define score if the student intelligent be qualified score.

Learning Log 10 ( 13/09/016 )

This day ,
I learned   about how to use Captivate 8 program. First, I chose  size 1048*768 the blank project. Next, teacher I learned   about to create  page into my CALL and build register page , welcome page, and menu page, etc. Next, I learned about how to make per-test and post-test in my program. Then, I knew  about linking flame to another flame.l could build bottom to connect another page. I could add some picture or audio into my CALL.

Learning Log 9 30/08/2016

This week I learnt about CALL : Computer Assisted Language Learning
the advantages  of applying CALL

Learner’s Factors
  • CALL can adapt to the learners' abilities and preferences.
  • CALL can adapt to the learners’ cognitive and learning styles.
  • CALL can adapt to the learner’s self-paced learning. CALL can be used for remedial work for slow learners and to accelerate learning for fast learners.
  • CALL offers individualized and private learning.
  • CALL, with branching capability, provides choices and paths for learning, allowing learners to work independently.
  • CALL allows learners to control their own learning process and progress.
Motivation and Attitudes
  • CALL provides strong motivation for learning. Students will often do on a computer what they are reluctant to do in a textbook or paper-pencil.
  • Some CALL features such as graphics, sounds, animation, video, audio are interesting and motivating for many learners.
  • CALL can improve learners’ attitudes towards learning English.
  • CALL (internet) provides authentic communication that motivates students to use language outside language classroom.
Feedback and Progress Record
  • CALL can provide immediate responsiveness and feedback.
  • CALL provides accurate records of the learner’s performance and progress.
Teacher’s Roles and the Relationship with the Learner
  • CALL can change the relationship between teacher and student.
  • The teacher becomes a facilitator rather than a person who controls the learning environment.
  • CALL is predictable and non-judgemental.
Mastery Learning
  • CALL provides opportunities for mastery-learning language skills.
  • CALL can lower the amount of time required to master some materials.
Co-operative Learning
  • CALL (e.g.simulation games) encourages learners to work cooperatively in problem solving.
  • CALL allows learners to learn cooperatively as a result of working together (such as group works, and discussion.)
Communication
  • CALL (e.g. games and puzzles) create information gaps which provide learners a need to communicate or interact with each other or with the program.
  • CALL (e.g. e-mail, chat, moos) promote direct communicative skills for the learners.
  • CALL (e.g. e-mail, chat, moos) provides authentic, real communication with native speakers of English outside the classroom.
Access to Information and Cultures
  • CALL (e.g. CD-ROM and the internet) can increase access to information to the learners.
  • CALL (CD-ROM and the internet) allow learners to acess to cultures around the world.
Learning Environment
  • CALL is a neutral medium. Compared to teachers, computers do not lose patience, get angry, or play favourites as some teachers do. This creates a safe learning environment.
  • CALL can provide an active and positive learning environment.
  • Integration of a variety of multimedia such as texts, graphics, sound, animation, and video, allowing for creating authentic meaningful language learning environments.
  • CALL (the internet) has no limitations regarding different time zones and places.
Cost Effectiveness
  • CALL is cost effective.

learning log 8(30/08/59)

This day, I learnt about Computer-Assisted Language Learning (CALL) is defined as “the search for and study of applications of the computer in language teaching and learning.” (Levy,1997: 1) /aim to find ways for using computers for the

purpose of teaching and learning the language

USES OF CALL IN ENGLISH LANGUAGE TEACHING

Drill and practice consists of three steps:

 Providing stimulus;

Receiving active response from the learner; and

  Giving immediate feedback

There are several types of drill and practice activities (exercises)

 Paired Associate (Matching);

  Sentence Completion;

 Multiple Choice;

 Part Identification;

 True-False; and

  Short-Answer questions

Computer as a tool for teachers and learners

Word Processors: creating documents, handouts, exercises

  Spelling checkers

 Grammar checkers

  Concordancers

  Collaborative writing

Reference software: encyclopedias, dictionaries, thesauruses, maps

 Authoring: Authorware (Macromedia), Adobe Captivate

And about The Use of the Multimedia in the Teaching and Learning of English Language By Dr. Meenu Pandey

Multimedia is the combination of different content forms; text, audio, still images, animation, video, or interactivity content forms

Why would any teacher want to use multimedia materials in the classroom?

- “hip, cool, and hi-tech” teachers

      -quickly incorporate the new tools,

      -correctly perceive that slick multimedia

        value for learners

Conclusion

multimedia offers teachers enormous opportunities for making learning and teaching environments meaningful and effective.

one of the ultimate goals of multimedia language teaching is to promote students’ motivation and learning interest.

in the future, the use of internet and multimedia English teaching will be further developed.

the process of English learning will be more student-centered but less time-consuming.

A teacher cannot be substituted by technology.

He/she must not compromise his positive role while using technological aids in the classroom.

Learning log 7 ( 16/08/2016 )

Sunday, August 21, 2016

This day I learnt about “the false friend” is a word that same sound and look but had different meaning in two languages.
For example,
"smart" in English mean ฉลาด
but in Thai means หล่อ ดูดี
"sexy"In Thai mean โป๊
In English mean  หุ่นชวนหลงใหล
and I learnt about meaning of   CALL
: Computer-Assisted Language Learning
(CALL) is often perceived, somewhat narrowly, as an approach to language teaching and learning in which the computer is used as an aid to the presentation, reinforcement and assessment of material to be learned, usually including a substantial interactive element.

Learning Log 6 (9/08/2016)

Saturday, August 13, 2016

This day, I learnt about how to use antconc.I knew use that word in my corpus. I searched some words in my antconc and it showed me concordances I realized that kinds of word that they usually used in my corpus that are preposition, article, and noun. Moreover, teacher taught me to use English-Thai parallel corpora online from the linkhttp://www.arts.chula.ac.th/~ling/ParaConc/.I learnt about how diffidence between Thai corpus and English corpus that make me know the all of the words the native speaker used, and tell me where to find all of the examples of that word. Concordances can help me look for words in different contexts, and suggest other words that may be related to the word I have learned.
For example,

the word "friend" in Thai means เพื่อน, มิตร. There are different meaning according to nearness.
All my works.

It was a collection of written texts, especially the entire works of a particular author or a body of writing on a particular subject. Next ,teacher taught me how to use the http://www.corpus.leeds.ac.uk for build to my corpus. Also, teacher suggested me for ANTCONC. Then, she taught me to copy the information and paste it into notepad. I found the information that about I interested in is "Bakery" and saved my information about bakeries on my computer. Then, I put some word in Antconc program . It would showed me how many words in this Program. Finally,My homework I could to find around 50,000 words about bakeries to make my corpus and I could to check words by Antconc program.

Learning Log 4  (26/07/2016)
This day  I were trained about  how to use Corpus Linguistics by
      Mr.kriangkrai Vathanalaoha.
The English corpus was based on a subset of the corpus of Reuters news, a collection of newswires from Reuters for one year from 1996-08-20 to 1997-08-19.
You can search trough a subset of the corpus within texts annotated with general topic codes (prefixed with 'G' in the Reuters classification).
This includes newswire texts concerning political events (GPOL), crime (GCRI), entertainment (GENT), etc, but excludes news from markets, unless they were explicitly annotated with general topic codes
 by Reuters corpus developers.
Mr.kriangkrai Vathanalaoha

told about types of corpus. There were seven types of corpus.
     1.Special Corpus
     2.General Corpus
     3.Mutilingual Corpus
     4.Parallel Corpus
     5.Learner Corpus
     6.Historical or Diachronic Corpus
     7.Monitor Corpus

Next, I learned the processes in Corpus linguistics that were frequencies, concordances, collocations, distribution information, keywords and dispersion plots.

I atten the seminar about Linguistics and language Teaching .The lecturer is Professor Dr.Budsaba Kanoksilapatham. She comes from English Department, Faculty of Art,Silpakorn University. I learn about morphology. I know the collocations such as black and white. I learn about syntax such as subjunctive vs indicative mood. Then, I learn  pragmatics. For example, your boss told you that it is time for you to get a new watch! It meant you were late! After that, I know about sociolinguistics that was using language in the different situation such as Hi! What's up? vs Good morning! Next, I learn about lexical semantics.  I realize British English and American English. For example, flat and apartment were the same meaning but flat is British English and apartment is American English. Moreover, I learn about shades of meaning such as to surprise is less intens than to astound. Then, I learn about discourse that is written vs spoken language in English, I also learn about corpus linguistics. After that, I learn about linguistic research skills as well. It is about subject-verb agreement. Finally, I know about Linguistics and language Teaching.I can use knowledge to apply in English Teaching.I also practice Linguistics and language Teaching.
